About the Role

We are currently looking for a Plant Engineer (GCC and GMR 2.1). Manage all mechanical and electrical maintenance project requirements to achieve optimized performance of all plants. B.Eng Degree or Diploma, Government Certificate of Competency. Minimum 10 years’ experience in the energy industry, of which 5 years in a supervisory capacity. Must have excellent management skills, time management, electrical and mechanical knowledge, ISO 9000, OSHACT, project management.

Requirements

Primary Responsibilities

  • Manage and motivate the production team by ensuring efficient and effective use of all resources

  • Track and develop a systematic approach towards the improvement in the reduction of planned hours

  • Responsible for preventative maintenance planning on all machines

  • Administration of the maintenance and production department

  • To monitor electrical and mechanical breakdowns.

  • To ensure that company safety standards are adhered to

  • Apply disciplinary measures in compliance with company disciplinary codes

  • Suitable applicants will be familiar with the South African market and be able to demonstrate some previous experience in the Low Carbon Electricity market.

  • Ideally you will possess a BEng or Diploma in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.

  • GCC is essential (GMR 2.1 appointment as you will be the legal appointee for the plant).

  • Minimum of 10 years working experience within an engineering & maintenance environment is      essential

  • Extensive knowledge of the electricity and utilities environment and the respective technologies

  • Understanding of South African Legislation relating to SHE e.g., Occupational Health and Safety Act etc

  • Shutdown Turnaround planning and scheduling

  • Technical knowledge on equipment standards, maintenance approaches and maintenance strategy development

  • Influencing maintenance requirements in regulatory codes

  • Understanding of project and business development and evaluation of business alternatives

  • Ability to work within a matrix within projects and business

  • Understanding of global business and requirements

  • Resilience and proven ability to deliver

  • A proven leader


Qualifications

  • Engineering Degree or Diploma

  • GMR 2 (1) and GCC

  • Knowledge of SAP

  • Computer Literacy
